DynDNS development on hold for a while

My patent is filed so spending more time on this project and also doing major job hunting to have some fixed income. I'm planning to spend a large portion of savings to produce it so I need a stable income as well ;).

Fixed some errors!

Created 22 Feb 2011 11:55AM has 0 comments!

Seems many parts were broken on the site due to one commen error pagination. Disabled pagination for now and all seems to work again. This app was using an older version of will_paginate which broke when we upgraded to rails 3 and ruby 1.9.2. Sorry for the inconvenience, but hey it's a free service ;). Anyway I saw some people signed up. Great! There is however another part which is not automated, generation of the forwarding site (like maenhout.sitweb.eu). Hopefully I will find the time to do this in the next week...

Back in business :)

After 2 years in construction work we're back! Anyway I'm updating the client since checkip.sithosting.com is currently unreachable (was so busy, forgot to update the domain registration and it got parked but it will be back cause I was in time to extend it :)).

Anyway what does this mean. Well for now you must download the new update client on this page Windows update client. And all should work.

Even more bad news, new users can't sign in with gmail accounts because gmail is bouncing our mails :(. Most likely because it was abused by a betweendating.com a community site I decided to build as a personal challenge which happens to run on the same ip ;). Hopefully I'll finish that project sometime soon.

Instead I've been busy with programming chips and finally got one of my allways wanted but never had the time to finish usb-device inventions working:

No, this is not a mouse with a blue led, patent pending soon ;). This is all part-time stuff from the past year, when we go full-time into IT again expect many new releases of all sorts of hard&software :D

We will probably drop mail confirmated signups and move to openid/facebook/twitter signups. The good news is, if you have a hotmail account all is still working but sometimes you do have to check in your spam folder to actually find the activation email ;). So long story short if you want to use this free and easy to use dyndns service just sign up for a free hotmail (or any less picky email than gmail) and you can still register that way until we update this service.

Moved to new server

SIT has just moved to a new web server. This server is upgraded to ruby 1.9.1 and rails 2.3.3. It will take a few days before all depricated code/bugs in the webapps are fixed... hallo wereld

Improved session handling

Added some missing features to the blog and also fixed some session issues. This also allowed me to extend the statistics part on this page.

Cleaned up and added features to the administration part of service but this is only important for the admin users.

Fixed some .css issues for older I.E.

Found and solved an explorer .css rendering bug for this site. The pages are useable now in all browsers (ie 5,6,7 firefox and safari tested).

On IE 5 the user links might not look so pretty but atleast it works in all browsers now. And even looks good in most ;)

Update client improved

Created 13 Jul 2008 09:46PM has 0 comments!

The update client has been improved. A guest account for testing is used. This way one can see the client working strait away before trying it with your own login/pass and domain.

Go to the download page to get the new update client!

DynDNS online

Created 12 Jul 2008 07:17PM has 0 comments!

This Dynamic DNS service was written in ruby on rails. We use this system to provide remote view for camera installments. But the service is general enough to be used by a variety of dyndns applications.

Along with this service we also provide a free windows update client as well.
